I would appreciate any opinions on L-4 paperwork. I recently looked at an L-4 that did not have a fuselage serial number tag in the birdcage area (missing), and the FAA website shows the registration serial number as 43-XXXX (referring to the tail number of an L-4B with the US Army from fiscal year 1943). There was not an L-4 dataplate, but there was what appeared to be a repro Piper data plate with the same 43-XXXX inscribed. Also, on the FAA registration, the MFR Year is "None." Classification is Standard, Category is Utility. Does anyone see any problems with this?
