I'm fairly new to the J-3/4/5 line. Is there an STC in the books to increase the gross weight on a J-5A from 1450 to 1550 lbs? I'm considering purchasing one and the owner thinks his airplane is certified to 1550 lbs. He says it weighs 1041 empty which seems a little on the heavy side. It has a mid time O-235, starter, alternator, and nav lights. ADs are good. The overall condition is fair to good.
What would you suppose this airplane would be worth? I know it's hard to say, but just take a stab at the price range I should consider. Thanks.
