I've done some research and studied the type certificate.... still not really sure if a J3 with C-50 from factory, converted to C-85 requires a log book entry or 337, or STC to be legal. What say you?

From what I can tell, the C-85 is only approved (with log book entry) for J3's that had the C-65 engine. Mine (C-85 on original C-50 Cub) has been installed and flying very well for about 50 years (many hard ag flying hours). How is that for testing? My current IA is not sure and the logs are somewhat missing-vague during the install in 1954.

Thanks for your input!
