I finished up my PPL in a Cherokee 180 and got my ticket last week, but the J-3 has been sitting in the hangar since Thanksgiving waiting for warmer weather. Today the winds were calm enough and the air was warm enough (32F) to give it a shot. (I didn't want to try to taxi in stronger winds given how long it's been since I was in the Cub, just in case I had lost the touch a bit.) We definitely do need to take the time to glue in the leather door seal, but the plane ran like a top from the first attempt to start it until I shut down back at the hangar. Only 0.6 hours but it felt great. Didn't even ground-loop it the first time out. I hope everyone else is logging more hours than we are so far in 2016, but I'm bound and determined to catch up.
