While having a conversation with my uncle recently, he mentioned flying a 65hp J3 in the late 40's that had what he called a 'duster' prop. Apparently it would turn up around the 2,800-2,900RPM range on takeoff, he also said they had to keep around 1,000-1,200 RPM all the way to the ground because of the excess drag.

Could this have simply been an off the shelf climb prop? Or would duster conversions have used something else?

Regards,

James
