Hi All,

Here are two pictures of the carburetor air box on my C-85 powered J3. The shaft controlling the carb. heat butterfly on this box is very loose due to wear, and needs attention. The shaft does not appear to have had any supporting bearings, and it may have had only bushings (or nothing) supporting the shaft when new. The air box either needs to be rebuilt or replaced.

This air box looks 'odd' to me compared to new ones from places like Univair. It appears that the front section was welded on, but that may be normal as I'm just not familiar with these items. Do I have a stock or original air box, or is this a mongrel? What is the consensus, repair or replace? If repair is a good option, who does good work, and can return this air box to proper working condition??

Thanks,

John
