C-90 on floats. Front or back seat best?

I’m new to the forums, and new owner of a wag aero j3 c90 on edo 1400.

Question on performance, and safety. When soloing it on floats, will it get off the water easier(get on the step easier) having a forward CofG by sitting in the front seat? Any safety concerns soloing on floats from the front vs rear seat?

For those that solo from the front, do they use any sort of ballast strapped to the rear seat ?
