I flew my L-4 up to Quincy Sunday, sixty mile round trip and had a chance to check out the cruise speed. I averaged 75 mph on the GPS in level flight going and 68 mph coming back due to some wind.
The round trip averaged out to about 72 mph both ways at around 2100 rpm. Not bad for 65 hp with the doors open.
I can't remember when I ever enjoyed a flight more than that trip on Sunday, clear skies, dry air, temps in the 80's and very light wind on the surface.
