So, really nice $52K Cub in the fleet with one 18 gal tank, one 11 gal tank. There are a number of these in the fleet. 337s are typically signed by an IA.
Leak at the butt rib on the 11gal tank - these are excellent tanks, and I suspected a pipe fitting that was not tight/properly doped or something.
During annual, they decided it was the thru tube, where the drag wire goes through. They cut the gorgeous fabric, removed the tank, and found a piece of tape over the forward fuel vent outlet. It was apparently behind the cap strip, and could not be seen by inspection without disassembly.
So a piece of tape instead of a 1/8" pipe plug, and this airplane undergoes a thousand dollar repair. Be careful with these beautiful airplanes.
I am now more than ever inclined toward stock airplanes. Highly modified airplanes with semi-strange paperwork can cause more problems than they are worth.
