I just decided to bite the bullet and got the Superior Millennium's for the A65. Now that it is getting much cooler in N TX, I'm a bit concerned about break-in of these new cylinders. One of the caveat's on the break in procedure is oil temperature.
I am unable to get anywhere near that---not even in hot summertime around here.. WIth temps in mid-upper 50's - 60's, I'm lucky to get to 130°, if that. Summer it may get to 150°- 160°. I've never seen 180° or more in the 9 years I've had the J-3
How do I get higher oil temperature?
I'll try the boiling water test/calibration suggestion next time out, but don't think there is anything wrong with temp reading on gauge.
