Can it have anything one way or another to do with the tendency for the engine to quit(or not) on landing(and/or approach to) if the engine is not "cleared" as suggested?
If so, which would be more likely to make the engine stop, rich or lean? And is this tendency outside temperature dependant, say ok in the summer and still might quit in winter?
