I flew with an acquaintaince Friday in the non-electric corridor into Colonial airstrip, so we were relatively low, per letter of agreement (I offered to let him drive, and he did so). He was one of several people that I've flown with lately who display no sense of being aware of what is underneath or in front of them or outside the airplane in general. He flew within 500 feet of several individual houses and too low over a subdivision; also over wooded areas outside gliding range to nearby open fields. Why do some folks do this? Anyone have any thoughts about whether meandering slightly to maintain an open, unobstructed course is still taught as standard practice?
