This morning the roof and one wall of Building 21 at the Smithsonian Garber storage facility collapsed from the weight of the snow. The Garber facility used to be where major historic projects were stored and restored. After the Udvar-Hazy facility opened at Dulles, Garber has been used mostly for storage of artifacts, including some historic space suites. The objects in this building are reported to be stored in sealed containers, but the building has been declared unstable and the fire department is not letting people inside to check on possible damage.
