From an earlier post on this subject.......
Upon removal of fabric (grade A) from a 1937 J-2, we discovered several dated signatures, two on the spar and one on the right wing false spar. They are all within a week of each other (November 1937). Wondering if these were required pre-cover inspection signatures or simply three factory workers that were signifying pride in their work. Have any of you found similar signatures?
Tom
The signatures, dates and numbers sometimes found written on wing and/or aileron spars with grease pencil are the inspectors sign off and date indicating the part is complete and ready for cover. On wing spars you will also find the wing serial number.
