Had a recurring problem with the little A-65 dying right after landing that first surfaced last January after the annual inspection. It often would not idle when warm and could not be restarted. I had to push the aircraft back to the hangar more than once after landing!
Checking and inspecting everything that might possibly cause the problem (including an expensive carb overhaul) yielded no fix.
My IA found the forward AN connector elbow at the top of the gascolator to be loose, allowing air into the fuel line on an intermittant basis. This was causing a condition identical to vapor lock. Sealing and tightening seemed to help but was not the cure.
I had cleaned/serviced/reassembled the gascolator bowl during the annual inspection, as always.
There was no fuel leakage, and nothing was evident during visual inspections of this area.
This is just something to file away in the back of your mind.
