Original Window Latch....safe to fly open?

My L-4 has the original window latch mounted at the rear which pushes (hinges) open and props up on the support lever.

Does anyone else have this latch and have you flown it with the window open? Looks to me like it might get beat around a lot since it does not latch up tight under the wing.
