Hello All!

I got a J3 Cub with an A-65 Continental a couple days ago! This is my first J3.

She’s a beauty, but had a question for you guys. On startup, and cruise oil pressure is perfect right at 40 psi. However, when the oil gets warm the oil pressure drops down at idle. In flight, or cruise it’s right at 40 psi even when warm. It is ONLY at idle when oil is WARM that the pressure drops.

The A-65 manual says 10 psi at idle is within limits. I’m just not used to seeing it that low! Wanted to get your opinions and experiences. I am running Aeroshell W100 Plus and oil level is just a hair over 4 qts.

I have attached photo of warm oil pressure in flight and warm oil pressure at idle. Any RPM at all and it jumps right back up to 40 psi. Thank you!!
