I was around our local airport here in TN and ran into a guy that grew up around my dad's family. My dad had 6 brothers and 2 sisters. The only one not living out of them is my uncle who died before I was born. I started talking to this guy about his planes, and he figured out who I was and said, "That cub on the left belonged to your uncle." I was amazed because it is the only thing of his I have ever gotten to see. The man told me it wasn't airworthy and would take a good bit of money to get it back in the air. His dad had purchased it from my uncle sometime before 1979. This guy had learned to fly in it and soloed it. I believe it was back in the mid-late 90's the last time they flew it. His dad past away and it has just set in the back of his hanger gathering dust. I know the engine will have to be overhauled and fabric punch tested. Along with an extensive check of the entire plane. (I have a couple friends that are A&P's) What would be a good price to try to get it for? This one has some meaning to it to me, so I want to try and talk him out of it for a good price for me. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.
