My J-3 is new to me. I decided to see just what the fuel stem meant in gallons remaining and discovered that when the stem bottoms out I have 5 gallons remaining in the tank. I then took note that the cork float has been coated with a resin of some sort to keep it from saturating. It sinks in the fuel to the top level of the float. Anyone out there know if this is the norm?
