My old, discarded J3 juselage had the "upside down U" shaped trim cover over the jack screw area fitted to the fabric with a plastic type of backing and some screws. If you poked the trim cover, there was major deflection in the fabric. There appeared to be no backing that was firm relative to that cover and the fuselage.

I noticed on Magnus' pictures of the rear of his fuselage, that there are two vertical channels that are mounted with riveted in captive nuts that he has installed to attach that trim cover to. What was the original Piper way of mounting that external trim cover to the fabric to trim out the jackscrew hole??
