Well, the Fat Cub rebuild adventure just keeps getting better!
Seems the folks I bought the C90 from didn't look at the TCDS regarding carburetor requirements. At least two A&P and 7 annual inspections on a Champ by an IA without discovering that the installed NA-S3B was not the correct model. Apparently flew and ran fine, who knows if the internals were changed and appropriate for the C90. No documentation on last carburetor overhaul.
Now I've a choice. Rebuild/convert Stromberg to NA-S3A, or purchase a Marvel. Yes, there is a price difference, but I'm trying to look at this over the long term.
Aircraft use case could make a difference in choice. Summer flying afternoon DA are usually over 6000' and frequently over 7000'. Having leaning capability on ground and at idle is an advantage. I don't believe the Stromberg leaning occurs until higher rpm.
Your thoughts?
