Question for the experts (or whoever else):

Was the Cub the first airplane to have that cockpit layout we all know and love? You know what I mean; two tandem seats, one instrument panel and almost no structure to hinder the ingress and egress of the pilot in the back seat. The E-2 Cub was built that way in 1930 but was there anything like that before the Cub came along?
