Cubbers,
After going back and forth for several months, I finally decided to replace my A-65 with a C-90. After looking far and wide for an acceptable run-out C-90-8 (with not much success), I finally conceded and found a first run-out C-90-12 with lall the accessories and logs since new to get overhauled. I also have this web site to thank for helping me find the C-90-12 installation STC.
I'm not ready for a complete restoration yet (although it could probably use it), but I have come to the realization that if I'm pulling the engine, it really deserves a complete firewall forward restoration to include all new lines, engine mounts, filters, gascolator (I have a Steve's unit I've been waiting to install), and a new prop.
To that end, do you guys have a preferred shop to send the exhaust to for inspection/repair? I've done some searches and there seems to be several, although I'm not sure if one's really any better than another.
Lastly, now that I'm updating, is there any other mods, etc. I should consider while everything is torn down (i.e. K&N filter vs Brackett, engine mounts, etc). I've seen some J-3 exhausts ceramic coated, etc.
