Hi L-4 fathers,
we've had some stimulating discussions regarding the Brodie device (from which L-4s could be launched and retrieved on a cable) in the past. I just stumbled over this interesting picture from 1910 (I have to check the exact date) of the stunt pilot Adolphe Pégoud who was credited as the first to perform the "Loop the Loop" in a reinforced Bleriot (although Pyotr Nestorov, a Russian pilot is actually believed to have beat Pégoud to the feat with 12 days).
This shows Pégoud trying out a Brodie-type device from which he reportedly both took off and landed.
Just (L-)4 fun/ Jörgen
