I just did my 25 hour inspection on the new C90 yesterday. I changed the oil, and gave her a full 4 qts of 80 even though I know I'll breathe at least 1/2 qt overboard. Nothing metallic, no leaks, everything looks good.

In 25 hours on the new motor I went through 1.5 qts of mineral oil, keeping the level around 3 qts. Does this consumption seem high? During that time I saw a lot of breathe-out on the belly. I assume that it's because the mineral oil is thinner and will breathe easier, but I am not sure. My breathe tube has the normal hole in the bend, but someone mentioned that the hole should have a bend in it to make more of a vacuum.

How do I know that the motor was broken in properly? The 1.5 qts of mineral seems high to me.

I also re-torqued the Sensenich prop bolts as per the 25 hour instructions. They were VERY loose, even though the safety wire was still in place and tight. Is there some wood compression with a new prop that would account for this?

Thanks, ya'll. Keep on Cubbin'. Beautiful WX here in Cali this weekend.
