Hi all,
I’ve been plagued with a difficult to tune stromberg. The Engine stumbles terribly advancing from 1000 rpm to 1800 and blows black smoke (rich). To alleviate the rich stumble the idle screw must be nearly full lean. The carb leaked badly so I purchased an overhauled carb and it acts exactly the same. C-85 jetted correctly according to overhauler.
I’m thinking the primer is allowing raw gas through even though it is locked. Does anyone have experience with this? I might use a vacuum brake bleeder to see if the primer allows fuel through when it is locked but my mechanic says just block the primer and run it. I’m not sure how to block it other than disconnecting and putting a cap on the intake manifold port. Any ideas?
