Years ago I went with a very experienced guy in a Citabria...ended up the flight flying very low and slow above two runways over to his hangar ( the tower told him NO, but this guy flew F4U in WWII and Korea so I'm sure they let it go) . As we motored along he was constantly pumping the stick feeling the machine. Was he doing this to stay just below critical AOA ? We were down in ground affect.
