I'm sort of confused. Or at least ignorant of best practice. What temperature should the spider and induction tubes be ? They need to be warm enough so that fuel does not form big drops and collect on the walls...So why , on an Ercoupe and I think a C140, is the spider blasted with ambient air with a duct from the nose ? My engine sports a hand made heat shield on the underside of the case that looks like it was also intended to keep the spider and carb cooler. Of course if the carb and spider get too hot they will reduce charge density and make less power. At what ambient should you cool the exterior of intake system and at what ambient should you heat it ??
