Coming soon to a lake near me.
Sorry, this is probably a really basic question.
I was offered the sale of an aircraft with a number of Field Approvals in its massive paperwork file-- well it's 82 years old and on at least it's third engine so... Field Approvals trump type certificate information, correct? Does it matter how old or if the aircraft was ever in an unairworthy status (being rebuilt after being damaged a few-- four-- times.) I have read the thread about old 337s.
On the type certificate: specifically A-691 Item 311 "Engine" (B) "Models J3C-50 and J3C-50S" and (C) "C. Models J3C-65 and J3C-65S" List alternative engine installations. This aircraft as built as a J3C-50 and had a 65-8 installed later, is this a major, or minor alteration?
I'm assuming it used to be a lot easier and more common to get Field Approvals.
Thank You
Andrew
