Help me out here - I am apparently confused.

It is my impression that the form 8110-3 that is generated by a DER is approved data, but that the DER cannot sign the 337 that accompanies the form - that has to be a different IA.

It is also my impression that once you have approved data for a major alteration, you no longer need a field approval - that is, block 3 on the 337 does not need to be signed by an FAA Inspector.

Recent threads have given me the impression that I am incorrect - that the 8110-3 is merely the basis for a field approval, and is not approved data until the FAA says it is, and even then for one aircraft only.

Enlighten me/us?
