There was an article in Cub Clues (#141, July/August 2007) titled Replacing Broken Drag Wire on a Wood Spar Wing by Anonymous. It's about replacing a drag wire in a covered wing which doesn't sound like much fun.
Within the article, there is the paragraph below that I typed out. Is it true that Univair, Dakota, WagAero drag wires are for metal spars only? Anyone heard of MJK Parts? Anyone know of a source for wood spar drags wires, or a place that can make them with rolled threads? I seem to remember there was a place that makes wires, but I can't recall the name.....White something?
"Finding the replacement wire looked like it was going to be a real pain as the usual suppliers - Univair, Dakota Cub, Wag Aero - didn't have a PMA'd replacement that would fit the wood spar Cub (part # 14941-03). Apparently there is a different one for the metal spar (P/N 14941-07). Everyone I spoke to was very helpful and offered to help me either find one or make one. It was stressed that the important thing about the wires is that they have rolled threads, not cut threads. Luckily, I was able to locate one at MJK Parts, a used parts supplier."
Thanks for any help.
