I recently heard something that I had never heard before, and that is, prior to using nails (I'm talking about the small little brads) used in assembling a wood J-3 wing that you should drill a hole first, obviously smaller then the nail. Supposedly this will keep the spar from splitting. Seems to me, if those little nails split the spar, I want to know it before I trust my life hanging by it. What's your thoughts on this? Thanks
