After checking with co-conspirators and at the urging of several, Winifred (9S7) is ready to host a Missouri River Breaks Flyin (13-14 June) the weekend before the SuperCubbers flyin at Johnson Creek.

We will not be able to donate a new Ford pickup and trip to the Bahamas for the shortest landing as in years past, but we will enjoy the good times and beautiful places the Missouri River and Breaks have to offer and the wonderful hospitality of Central Montana.

For those headed to the Johnson Creek cub flyin from the East, this place is on the way. Flying down the Missouri over Ft. Peck from North Dakota is the most scenic route. For those from the west, it is a legitimate destination in its own right if you enjoy truly wild and beautiful country. I suggest consideration of stopping here in the Breaks for the 13-14th and flying the Breaks, departure on the 15th for one of many back country strips along the Rocky Mountain Front, then over the top of the Chinese Wall in the Bob Marshall Wilderness to Meadow Creek strip and working your way to Johnson Creek...we can help you with plans. All of these strips have been covered in recent Pilot Getaway magazines.

Draft Schedule:

13th June: Afternoon Evening. Flying the breaks, set up camp at Cow Creek Strip in the Breaks. (See Mike Vivion's article in Pilot Getaways). If it is safe to have a cook fire, we will cook out at Camp over the fire. If it is too dry, we will cook in Winifred as in years past and fly the food to the camp.

14th June: Up, breakfast on your own in camp...flying the breaks strips, hiking, wildlife watching, enjoying the fresh scent of pine. Afternoon/evening there will be a hamburger feed in the Winifred Hangar...lots of hangar talk, perhaps ?? some dance music and definately some kegged beverages.

15th June: You are on your own, or we can organize some "airplane games" if there is interest.

There is a Cafe in Winifred, a small wonderful hotel, a swimming pool, two bars, and ca. 140 august souls. After Cow Creek, we can camp in the park or along the aircraft.

We have a large hangar, and wide turf runway for the planes...fuel will be available. Bring tiedowns.

Call me with questions...we are quite flexible at this time. I would appreciate a response in this thread if you think you might be able to make it. Ralph Rogers, 406 462 5487 ... more information to come.
