I hope to be in the market for a Cub in the new year and have been keeping an eye on what it out there and what people are asking for their machines. I wonder what determines the value? Obviously there are things like overall condition, total hours airframe and engine, what engine and what extras etc. However the differences seem significant.

Last year I went to look at a recently part overhauled J.3 with a C85 engine that had 300 hrs since overhaul. The aircraft was an 8/10 inside and out, sealed struts, grove breaks and Husky tailwheel. Asking price was $34.5K.

Now just on the forum here there are two J3's advertised with C85 engines with asking prices of $45K and $49K respectively. A major jump up from what I looked at before. What features would typically justify such significant differences?

Thanks

Roger
