Wanted a C 85 - 8 for my J3C 65. Need complete case and all parts except cylinders. I have 6 new cylinders complete.
Run-out O.K. as long as engine is rebuildable....straight crank.

It might be worthwhile also considering a -12 with the block off plates, since it's also on the TCDS. Downside is that it requires the exhaust mod.

Is the exhaust mod all that is required? No new engine mount? I already have the 241 engine mt with the bigger bolts thru the mount rubbers. Does U do the exhaust mod?
Found a 85-8 but it was overhauled by a non-A&P and there are no logs. So far owner has declined to tell me where in the world he is....so I don't know how far I would have to go to inspect engine. So it's an unknown core at this point. Still looking.
Thank you, R

Keep finding C85-12s that may be available in the next year. Don (Dream) says he can convert these to - 8. The price is reasonable. Guess a C90 - 8 wouldn't be a bad thing if I can find one. Just an engine change entry and a few parts.

R, if you are coming to a -12 from an A65 or a -8, you'll also need a tach reverser and a slightly longer fuel line between the Carb and gascolator. Engine mount is the same. Anyone who does aircraft exhaust repairs can extend the stacks. Its an easy conversion.

DOnt convert it...waste of time and money and no advantage...plate the holes and buy the exhaust...."parts exchange" made me a set for my c85 -12 and they are mint...keep things simple.....cut back the cowls to fit the exhaust and paint...so easy
