do i have this right, to check the cold clearances (a65 w hyd lifters), have crank for that cyl on comp stroke (valves seated), and feeler gauge between the rocker and valve stem tip, with the lifter spring compressed (valve train at its smallest linear dimension)?
assuming correct, what methods are being used to deflate lifter. saw a lycoming article about putting pressure on the pushrod side of the rocker repeatedly, but won't the lifter reinflate every release when the plunger moves away from the check ball???? perhaps steady constant pressure for a while while bleed down rate has time to squish oil out of cylinder-how do you know when it's all out.
any other techniques? thanks
