I'm looking at a 1942, 65 hr J3. metal spars, metal prop, orginal brakes, good logs, has always been in annual. Hasn't flown much in the last few years (4-5hrs. per year) has always been hangered. No show plane but in nice shape. I've flown it and it flies nice and straight. Downside is it does not have the sealed struts and it was last recovered in 1980.... The ceconite punch tests OK and the overall condition of the covering is very good. No signs of corrosion as best as we can inspect.
I know the struts knock off about $2500 but I'm having a hard time putting a value on it due to the age of the covering job. Is it a flying rebuild or would it be valued higher?

Thanks
