Hello,

I'm considering doing a pre-buy and having a look at the Cub listed here. Before I do, I thought I'd ping the experts here. I'm in Ohio and the plane is in Florida. Net, I want to weed out as much as I can before heading down there.

I've talked to the owner and traded emails. He seems like a very nice and honest guy. He even strongly encouraged me getting a pre-buy done.

He was forthright in his #1 concern would be the Imron paint having a tendency to crack over time. The paint right now looks fantastic with the only cracks being behind the rear seat sling and some hairline crack on tail feathers where you would handle the plane. He sent me a bunch of extra pictures to prove it. He's covered each with vinyl tape for now. He said he expects the paint to last another 15+ years or so. Is that reasonable to expect with Imron on fabric? I read some places that that STC isn't even valid anymore? It was done in 2002.

What I do like about the airplane is that it's a clipped wing. I like the paint scheme, and I like the engine (it's a Don Swords). One concern I do have, however, with the engine is that the overhaul was complete 14 months ago and only has 20 hours or so on it in a hot/humid area.

Any thoughts from the experts here on the paint, the engine, and the airplane in general?

Thanks!
