Hey Gang -

I've been gone for a bit, but I am finally back home so I figured I'd update you on my solution for this ADS-B compliance mess.

I ordered this unit 9 months ago and it finally showed up last week. I am not sure what the delay was. The factory didn't appear to be backordered. Believe it or not my insurance covered the cost of whole thing, but I am thinking the annual costs as it ages will be pricy.

This unit it totally self contained and works autonomously. Basically, it emits a constant ear-pearcing alarm that any airborne aircraft within 3 NM of me will hear, and I can only assume will take evasive action to move the hell out of my way.

I haven't taken it flying yet, but that is certainly being planned. I suppose we could create a whole new thread on flying with this type of equipment.

I surely hope the J3 gang is well. Happy New Year! All is well here.

I'm going to go sleep for 20 minutes now…
