I am starting the restoration of my '49 PA-11 w/C-90. Have owned it for 20 years.
Fuse looks good, but will replace old wood stringers with metal ones from Univair.
Will also replace all U-Channel and fit riv-nuts in lieu of crummy sheet metal screws.
I am thinking about replacing the bird cage as it has numerous holes from years of moving the wing fairing attachment screw locations.
I am having trouble locating someone to bead blast the steel before I apply primer.
I am not sure I want to remove old paint chemically.
Any suggestions? If I do it myself, how big a mess are we talking?
I live in Salt Lake where humidity is low and have a small window between blasting and priming.
I made a nice rotisserie for the fuse - shold make blasting, covering and painting much easier.
