I have almost 2 hours and 9 landings in the Spezio and it becomes "somewhat" like a low wing cub to my mind. I haven't made a decent landing yet, it's getting better but still not very good. I'm rusty, not having flown for 18 months but I did better in the C150 after not flying for 23 years. It reminds me of my initial first 20 hours training in a PA28, I never did figure it out. Maybe a low wing thing?
I think what's worst is the extremely light elevator. So light that it's difficult to know when it's trimmed. Although it is probably more of a speed, too fast, issue. I haven't stalled it yet but it's probably in the 45mph range. Touchdown, when I finally get it close/onto the ground, is around 50. I'm down to 70 on final and 55-60 over the fence....then the "fun" starts, I can't find the ground to save myself. It's a series of 2-3 slight(now) over corrections until the speed has finally bled off enough for it to stay on the ground. At least the gear has plenty of forgiveness....
I suspect some of the problem's the last thing I flew, the biplane, is so different....I wish I could have flow the J5 an hour or two first. I'll figure it out but this is something I didn't expect.
Otherwise the new mount is doing very well pretty normal ....so far..... All it seems to need is a pilot who is up(or down) to speed ??? :
I'll try some more tomorrow...
