As I was flying my Cub back from a local fuel run 3 weeks ago during cruise configuration, I went to adjust the nose trim and noticed the indicator button wasn’t moving while I turned the handle. I was finally able to get out to the hangar today and pulled the escutcheon off and noticed that the pin that runs through the pulley would turn, but the pulley itself wouldn’t.

I’m pretty sure the lock pin has fallen out (the smaller pin that goes into the cutout of the pulley and into the bigger pin). I’ve since purchased a new one from Univair.

My question is, how does this smaller pin go into the bigger pin? What means and methods have you used and what worked best? At a little over $25 for this jewel, I sure don’t want to drop it and have it wind up into the abyss of the tail section, and I sure as heck don’t want it falling out. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
