While at Sentimental Journey last summer, I heard N40627 won an award. I know where it is by the registration database. I was hoping that the ownwer is on this board. I flew that airplane many hours when it belonged to a flight school at Edwards (now Bayport) airport on Long Island. This was around 1970. My friend who owned the school bought it from an airline capt, I think. Anyway, it had 40 hrs since a complete rebuild including a Mattituck major OH and a metal prop. He paid $2500 for it and everybody told him he was crazy to spend that much on a Cub! We rented it for $11.00 an hour wet. I went on to own many other planes, including a J3. I now have a Legend Cub. I'd love to hear from the current owner.
