Just got finished sending in a packet of papers, forms, and pictures to the Reading Pa WWII Weekend that they say are a requirement of the FAA and ICAS for air shows. It is the same as 2 years ago, last year was cancelled. Get this:

They want drawings and pictures of:
Electrical/ Ignition Systems
Harnesses- Yep, had to send a picture of the seat belt.
Emergency Extraction Information for Aircraft- I had to send them a picture of the door and window open and closed! Where to chop, etc.
Ejection System
Hazmat
Fuel Systems- Complete drawings.
Canopy System- Top and side window pictures.

In addition, they want 14 required documents. Signoffs for your emergency parachute training, inspection cards, signoffs for maneuvers being performed in the air show, all 337s, Annual, Weight and Balance forms, all recurring ADs and time to next inspections, formation currency, carrying parachutists checkout, lotsa other stuff, too.

I don't know whether this is a result of some of the big name vintage aircraft accidents in recent years, but you have to send this stuff in every year. Even though you have an 80 year old airplane and nothing has changed in the last 20 years. The forms have to have this year's date on them. All this so I can fly 3 or 4 times around the pattern.

You can imagine the stink if the Antique Car Club guys had to send in this kind of stuff to DOT every time they wanted to drive to a car show!
