I have now seen four sets of mismatched ailerons on Cubs. The mismatch is at the hinge point, which is below the lower surface of both the wing and the aileron.
Before I discovered that, I tried to fix a mismatched pair by building a jig and re-setting the washout. No luck. I also tried trim tabs - probably illegal, and harmful to the fabric and trailing edge. Also no dice. I stopped after a 12"x1" tab had no effect.
I will do a drawing this coming week and post it here - it literally took years to discover this problem.
I test-flew a Super Cub last week, discovering mis-matched ailerons, strange stall responses, and analytical problems. I will discuss that after I post my drawing.
