I have decided to rid myself of ignition noise. I have Bendix S4LN mags with brand new and very expensive noise filters, brand new Packard 440 harness, toggle switch P-leads that were, at one point, led straight from the mag capacitor terminal to the back of the front seat using new, properly shielded wire. And yes, for a short time, I had brand new "shorty" plugs in there, but replacing them seemed to lessen the noise somewhat.

Noise was worse on the left mag, so Sunday, after delaying for a month, I moved that mag to the right. I have not been out of the pattern since, but it appears most of the noise went with the mag to the right side. Still TBD. I do have an older set of Bendix with 800 hours on them, but they too seem noisy.

My questions: can these Bendix mags be made absolutely noiseless by a good overhauler? If so, who are the good overhaulers?

And if i decide to go back to Slicks (noiseless, and never gave me any problems) how do I avoid the rumored quality control problems folks are having? By an overhauled set from cores ten years old? I am hearing that one wants to stay very far away from new Slicks.
