In looking at Barn Cub (Oct 1946) and some other J3 restoration photos, I see there's a different switch plate used between the J3 and the L-4. And the switch position would be a few inches apart between the J3 and L-4.
The L-4 is the one I'm familiar with, it's smaller and mounted between the forward vertical channel and the ~ 45 degree angled channel in the wing root (left wing root for L-4A & B, right wing root for L-4H & J and any upgraded A's or B's). The J3 switch plate is larger and longer, located behind the forward vertical channel and spans back to the rear vertical channel.
I'm trying to determine if the larger J3 switch plate was always used on J3s, or is it another post-war change and the L-4 style was the standard switch on J3s also?
