Hi all, great site; my first post.

I'm looking for a used or good low cost handheld radio. I'm flying a 1946 J3 locally but the FBO doesn't have a reliable handheld, and they forget to charge it often too. I'm getting lots of practice flying locally (country) without radio, but would rather have it for obvious reasons.

The FBO does have Icom intercoms and Dave Clark PTT, but I can't seem to tell, when reading the features of radios online, which radios will accept headset mic and PTT connections and which won't.

I know some radios like the Icom A14 I think have headset adapters but you still can't use the headset mic. Call me clueless, I don't know what terms to look for in the ad descriptions.

thanks for the help

Jim
