I’ve rescued a very nice C85-12 powered L-4 from an estate, and will probably need to sell it after a regimen of work to get it into the hands of someone who can buy this plane with confidence, and enjoy it the way it should be enjoyed.
Up until the owner’s death this plane was regularly maintained by Clyde Smith.
In nearly every respect, it’s nicer than my J-3, and I’m tempted to keep it.
But it needs to find a new home, because I don’t really need three planes, OR two Cubs.
We should have it up and flying with a valid annual inspection in a couple of weeks.
Once the plane is airworthy and more presentable, I’ll post up some pictures.
At that stage, it’ll be available for purchase with a couple of minor dope repairs outstanding. Alternatively, my plan is to get those issues addressed later this spring if it remains in my world.
In the end, if unsold here, I’ll take it to Sentimental Journey and hang a “For Sale” sign on it. I’m pretty sure I’ll be driving a rental car back to Vermont from Lock Haven.
For the “pics or it didn’t happen“ crowd, here’s the BEFORE picture I took while moving it from its dark, dusty hangar to its new home.
