Back on June 3rd, 2012, cubrath posted the following answer in a thread about a wing recovering:
The tape is to cover all the screws that hold the leading edge on and keep them from rubbing through the fabric.
Thus, I presume I have an issue that needs addressing. All the screws that hold the leading edge of our J3 Cub on are exposed through the fabric. See photos.
The odd thing is that they appear as if they were intentionally exposed. They are all exposed and the edges of the fabric are generally neat and look sealed.
Any thoughts? Do we have an issue? And what’s the best approach for repair? I’ve heard suggestions ranging from small round fabric covers to strips of fabric to priming the screw heads and painting. Comments from the brain trust herein appreciated!!
